Jesus Falls a Second Time.

31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not withhold his own Son but gave him up for all of us, how will he not with him also give us everything else?

38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8: 31-32, 38-39

Jesus Carries the Cross.

16b So they took Jesus, 17 and carrying the cross by himself he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.

Medium: I used different textured glass that made this piece challenging but I was hopeful it would add dimension to the piece. Every time I ran into challenges I would think of the extreme difficulties Jesus went through especially in this second fall moment.  I prayed that I could finish the piece without big breaks in glass or mistakes, and like all art and humans, its not perfect. But I’m happy with the outcome.

A Stained Glass Journey

Creating my stained glass piece depicting Jesus carrying the cross—captured in the poignant moment of His fall and rise—was a journey deeply rooted in personal challenges and profound reflection. The concept mirrored my encounters with struggles in my own life, moments that left me feeling weighed down yet ignited my desire to rise again, much like the narrative I hoped to depict.

This scene is very moving to me, and invoked something most of us  have had to feel at some point, grief and heartache.

The duality of despair and hope became my guiding inspiration. As I planned the intricate patterns of glass, each piece transformed into a metaphor for the many pieces of life that often feel fragmented. This piece serves not only as a representation of Jesus’s trials but as a mirror to our own experiences of overcoming adversity. The act of connecting these vibrant colors and light symbolizes the transformative power of faith and perseverance in the face of hardship.

The physicality of working with stained glass—a medium that requires patience, precision, and a careful assembly of broken elements—(often resulting in bloodshed at some point) mirrors the emotional labor of overcoming life's obstacles. Just as Jesus fell yet chose to rise again, I, too, found strength in vulnerability, embracing strength  & resilience. This piece tells a story, inviting viewers to contemplate their own journeys, to reflect on moments of challenge, and to embrace the power of rising once more.

My hope is that this stained glass work resonates with others, inspiring them to recognize their own strength and the divine light that guides us through our darkest moments.
